Retouched in 2017, Ford's mid-size sedan, Fusion, continues to innovate. It has undergone some aesthetic changes, but relies heavily on an abundance of new technologies that made their debut in 2018, and which continues their development for the next year. In particular, it focuses on three fuel efficient engines: the 1.5-liter engine, with automatic on / off technology as standard; the 2.0 L engine; and, on the Fusion V6 Sport model, the 2.7L EcoBoost® V6 engine.
The aesthetic changes are minimal. The new fairings change the layout of the lower air intakes and the front fog lights, as well as the exhaust pipe and the fake diffuser at the rear. Ford has also slightly modified the grille and taillight trim, which no longer meet on the trunk lid. Two new rim models are available and some changes have been made to the color choices for the interior and exterior.
Ford recently announced that the Co-Pilot360 Protect Driver Assistance Suite will now be standard on the entire Ford Fusion lineup. Features include stand-alone emergency braking with pedestrian detection, Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Keeping Assist, Rear View Camera and Automatic High Beam. A set of driver assistance devices now incorporating adaptive cruise control with stop and start function is standard on the Titanium, Sport and Hybrid versions.
